It's going on the auction block......
Ringo's obp kit
Yep, it's even being advertised now on TV! Let's see what it sells for!

Low estimate according to Julien's is $ 750,000 . I'll be it fetches at least 1.5 million .
1967 Ludwig Super Classic Oyster Blue Pearl
Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Burgundy Spkl. bop
etc...
The Ed Sullivan head fetched just over two million.... Should'nt the set be a LOT higher than that?? I think so!
Really ? I was unaware of that . I was going by what the auction house initially wrote on their site . Now just read this : " "We've conservatively estimated this (Ludwig) kit for three to five hundred thousand (dollars) but that was prior to knowing what the drum head would sell for," Darren Julien, president and chief executive of Julien's Auctions, said.
So, today we'd probably estimate it two to four, three to five million just because we think it's such a significant piece of Beatles history."

This is just one of the four OBP Ludwig sets that Ringo used in the Beatles. This was the first Ludwig set Ringo got which seems an odd choice as the frst one to sell off. Ringo still has the other three too as well as his maple finish Hollywood set.
Someone posted in an earlier thread on this auction that the auction house purposely keeps their estimates in the low range to help drum up interest. If they stated that their estimate was $3 million from the get go that would probably inspire a lot of folks not to even consider bidding.
I know I can't afford it, but I already have roughly the same thing of my own and that will have to be good enough.

Well, since I've already shelled out $2.2 million for the reso head, I might as well sell my villa in Monte Carlo and bid on the set. Be nice to see the head back on the set where it belongs. ;)

Yeah but that particular head wasn't ever on the set being sold. It was used on set #2 (which, so far anyway, Ringo is keeping). If I remember right the correct reso head for set #1 has disappeared. Just a technicality for sure but if you're going to spend 3-6 million dollars on a set of drums you probably want all the details to be just right ;)
I was thinking about bidding, but the kit is used... :)
