Revere snare drum

Loading...

Guys here is a new one on me. I found this snare drum for sale, its a Revere, my little bit of web search tells me it was made by Kent and has some connection to Gretsch also. I have asked the seller for more pictures. What do you think, is this something to get excited about?

This looks like a beautiful drum in excellent condition. (Please upload some pics of the full drum showing lugs & strainer. (there is no connection between Kent/Revere & Gretsch).

Your drum looks American to me (maple shell), but It would require a more informed person to date Revere drums, & to tell if & when they went Japanese. (as far as Gretsch goes, personnel is one thing, & drum engineering is another).

Hi Jeff and all...

I picked up a Revere kit about a year ago, cleaned it up and flipped it. It had stick on metal badges that said Revere, MIJ. Some of the hardware was stamped 'Japan' as well. The kit did not include a snare, the one seen in the pix was included by me when I sold the kit. I figured it to be mid to late 70's, and it was nicely made.

Jeff, That Revere drum was made by Kent drums. It was a line of better made of the Kent line.Your drum is from the 60's the shell should be a 3 ply maple shell with nicer edges thwn tiy would fine on the Kent made drums. If you note the lugs and clips that i see in the photos are Kent parts. In the 70's the Revere made drums were M.I.J. had copy's of Pearl lugs and came with a hex tom mount like you would see on C.B. 700 drums...If the asking price is not to much so 40.00-60.00 i would pick up the drum..*If you can get a photo or two of the lugs and strainer it would tell me more.....Mikey

Thanks guys, the seller wants 150 or bo. It comes in a Hardshell Ludwig case, the tombstone style with the b/o sticker but I dont think that makes it much more valuable. Here are som more pictures from the seller.

Jeff,

The butt plate looks original, but the strainer does not on the Revere snare.

Here is a pic of similar kent snare on ebay.

The Kent is the earlier badge so perhaps the Revere dates the same time.

Compare the "Revere" to my "Musketeer", of the same period, made by Kent.
