I carried a 10x26 bass drum (Chrome over wood Premier) and it was heavy enough. If that was used in a marching situation, it would have been on a cart. More likely just used as a concert bass drum. But yeah, you don't see those every day. I myself have been sorely tempted by the Element SE closeouts in Mod and Psych finishes. Finally gave in and bought a Citrus Mod Downbeat set. :p

I'd guess this particular specimen was used as a concert drum, but I've seen a few drum & bugle corps use 36" drums on the field.

As for needing a big boy to carry them, I teach a high school drum line and the 28" drum we use as our bottom bass is actually a fair amount heavier than an old 32" marching drum we have from the '70s because the old drum has a three-ply shell and lighter hardware.

Is that citrus mod or really faded mod orange?The photos are crappy.Citrus mod...yeah you could rewrap a few snares with that puppy.
