Radio King help Last viewed: 3 hours ago
Makurtz,This is what i think is wrong about the drum. The finish in new so that would make it a re=wrapped drum the white backing on the wrap should be a more of a yellow in color not bright white. The outer edge has be re-cut it should be more rounded. The grommet is wrong and has been replaced from your photo of the inside of the shell.I see marks around the grommet on the inside .The grommet is a re=placement new one it's bigger then a Slingerland one-{cover's the S/L on the badge from the out side. The strainer i think is a new replacement one. Also the listing states two extra holes in the shell I would ask for a good close-up of the strainer from the inside of the shell.I think i see some holes that have been filled..If you are looking for a S/L Radio king one piece maple shell 6.5x14 snare.I have one from the 40's.iam thinking about selling....Mikey
Thanks Mikey, and every one else for your insights. This furum is Tha-Bomb! No doubt it's a beautiful drum but with this auction looking like possibly closing at $800+, I'm thinking that's gonna be too much for a re-wrap with questionable hardware & extra holes.
Hey Mikey, what I'm REALLY looking for right now is a '69-'71 red sparkle Jazz Festival to go with my Big Beat kit of that era. However I definitly would not mind adding another RK to my budding collection! PM/Email me some pics when ever you're ready to pull the trigger.
