In the article for 3-point strainers by Dr Wenk in the Drum Guide, that strainer should have a one-hole outward flange drop for the tin strap version strainer wires.
I really wouldn't sweat it though.
I'd be more concerned about the two extra holes that the seller describes.

Onthe opening post, the photo shows the gromet for the badge covers partially the word Slingerland,..on Fathertime`s drum,..the gromet does not cover the brand Slingerland,...has the one on the opening posts been changed ??
Slightly OT - I have a Slingerland drum I restored and it appears to be single ply. I thought it was a Hollywood Ace. I believe it once had a Zoomatic strainer. But my question is about the edges. They are almost flat. I think the badge on this drum is correct and it's the Chicago version. Do Radio Kings have 45 degree edges?

Doesn't the color of the back side of the wrap looks too white and new, where it is showing through the holes on that inside shot? There is so much that is questionable about that drum that makes the price unrealistic.

Excellent question! Thanks's for noticing. Can't beleive I didn't catch that. Looks like it could be replacement/incorrect grommet, huh? Which also begs the question, why? I think I may just pass on this drum unless there is some legit explanation. The bid amount is already starting to get pretty high with still too many doubts in my mind. Hmmmm Still have a few more days to research.

Makurtz,This is what i think is wrong about the drum.The finish in new so that would make it a re=wrapped drum the white backing on the wrap should be a more of a yellow in color not bright white.The outer edge has be re-cut it should be more rounded.The grommet is wrong and has been replaced from your photo of the inside of the shell.I see marks around the grommet on the inside .The grommet is a re=placement new one it's bigger then a Slingerland one-{cover's the S/L on the badge from the out side.The strainer i think is a new replacement one.Also the listing states two extra holes in the shell I would ask for a good close-up of the strainer from the inside of the shell.I think i see some holes that have been filled..If you are looking for a S/L Radio king one piece maple shell 6.5x14 snare.I have one from the 40's.iam thinking about selling....Mikey
