Wow! Very nice drums! and a cool history behind them. I am almost seeing double. I restored some early 60's orphans last year and they are among my favorites of all time. I do understand your love for those Slingerlands. I as you also use a Supraphonic 400 with my set.
My bass drum did not have a tom mount on it but did have 2 cymbal mounts and a cowbell/woodblock mount. I used those for my floor tom leg mounts. I think my 12"x22" bass held a tom with a clip on hoop tom mount? If I ever run across a decent 60's 8"x12" Slingerland tom to restore I may have to get some rims for the toms and use them on a stand.
I bet your drums sound amazeing. I know I like mine!

Hi,
Thanks for the kind message, yes I have had a real great life in the music industry for almost 50 yrs next year, I know this sounds cheesy, but I was there in amongst it all in the 60's , I was signed by Brian Epstein, The Beatles managemet, thats how I got to record a Beatles track. John & Paul along with Sir George Martin where all present when my band recorded it in 1964, I was only 17 yrs old, Bless! I looked so young then. If you wish to hit me up log on to "The Naturals I should have Known better " I arranged the track to suit my band at the time, hence the start. We only had the one hit (top 30) which sold in excess of 100,000 copies which was good going as the Beatles had there first film out with the track on it ( A Hard Days Night) also their album " A Hard Days Night ) and then came our track. I had 7 fantastic yrs from the one hit. It is written on a few sites that we were a fluke of a band and it was the song and not the band that was the success, whatever, but not many drummers / bands can claim that they recorded a Beatles track in Abbey Road Studio's with Sir George Martin, John Lennon and Paul Mcartney watching on in the studio as we recorded the track. After we had finished recording we all went down the local pub for a waffle & Canadian Syrup & a beer as you do LOL !!!.
When we left the studio we drove to our next gig some 275 miles away only to find that our roadie had left my floor tom outside Abbey Road Studio's. This we found out after he spoke to the studio security officer who had found it on the pavement outside @ 3.00am. So of course he had drive all the way back to collect it in time for my gig. In those days we only had the one motorway the M1, so it took for ever there and back, LOL!!! On his return to the gig just in time only for the roadie to inform us that he had smashed up our 3 day old NEW minibus. Then it was back down to London for a TV slot the very next day. ! All really great fun !!! It really was Drugs, Sex AND Rock n Roll baby !!! Got all the photo's to prove.
Take care,
Roy

Hi Buddy, If its stories you want I could bore you to tears with stories, these snippits are from my forthcoming book " The Most famous unknown Band "
Here goes's{-
My band where booked to appear at a very posh restaurant in the middle of London, We were told that we would have a " warm up artist" on before we went on. We were also informed that the venue was not really suited for live music and it would be a first for all concerned. We arrived, roadie set up the gear, sound checked, then had a few beers. The venue was on 2 levels, with the kitchens upstairs and no changing rooms except either the toilets or on the stairs. We chose the stairs to change on, While sitting on the stairs waiting to change before we went on the so called "warm up " artist arrived dressed in his Davey Crocket hat and tassles down his arms & legs etc.He unpacked his alto sax and played a little squeeky, put the sax down on the concrete stairway and went into to restaurent to have a look, while all this was going on the waiters were up & down the stairs with meals etc for the punters. The warm up artist came back only to find his sax bent in half as a waiter trod on it by accident, the warm up artist just happened to be none other than " Mr David Bowie " aka Davey Jones as he was first called LOL !!! Have to say he was **** man !!!.
P.S Thanks for the Blast from my past poster billing, Brill
Let me know when you are ready for another " Storey "
