Beautiful.. Just Beautiful. I love the way WMP finishes age.
Kind of gives it a mellow, cool vibe. Nice set man.

Welcome El! Great old kit. Looking forward to seeing the results of the WFL restoration.

Thanks, Fellas. This post is almost a year old (someone resurrected it) but I love my WMP 63 Luddy's more than ever! I've even given the rack tom a good polishing with Novus and it looks even better than in the original pic I posted! I'll have to post new pics once I get through the other 2 drums. I'm looking forward to finishing the WFL kit, too! I have the rack and floor toms in bare wood right now...just need to finish the bass drum...then time for re-wrap!
Question for you guys...the 58 Ludwig/WFL kit didn't come with any badges...so my guess is that they originally had transition badges? They are stamped Dec XX, 1958 and have WFL bass drum claws and clipper legs. Any ideas/guesses?

I guess I’m the culprit for resurrecting this one (I had to ask about the DW stands in your picture).
Anyways, I have to mention that I used the Novus product for the first time recently. I received a Novus polish kit and a handheld orbital polisher for Christmas. The kit contained a bottle of Novus 1 and 2. I tried it out on my Clubdate BDP kit which I had semi-cleaned up but was lacking that extra oomph. Now, I know many would probably frown upon me using a polisher on a wrap finish or any finish for that matter but I was careful not to apply too much pressure and left the polisher do the work; and as a result no heat was generated on the wrap. I used the polisher for Novus 2 and applied Novus 1 by hand. I took a couple hours one night and stripped the lugs, etc. off the shells and went to town. Holy S**T! The BDP really pops! I am now a firm believer in Novus and am greatly impressed and happy with the results. (sorry that kinda sounded like an infomercial, but it’s honest and from the heart). A+++ for Novus
Yeah...Novus is the $h*t!!! I was too chicken to use a machine polisher on my kit, but I applied Novus 3, 2 and 1 by hand...and wow...what a difference! I learned about it from guys on this forum, so you shouldn't catch any flack for it. I'm sure if I were to use step 2 and a polisher like you did, they would be even sweeter, but I'm still chicken for now. Maybe I'll buy a cheapie drum and practice on that. Anywho...no worries on asking about the hardware and bring this post back to life...makes me feel like a newbie again! I sure have learned a lot about vintage drums in the past year, though...thanks guys!
