Nice. Everyone loves black nitron Gs. I'd be using the 13 instead of the 12, maybe even consider offloading the 8, 10 and 12 to cover picking up a matching (to some degree) snare...

Nope, you can't mount the 13" on the bass drum without the badge facing backward. He could mont the 13" on a snare stand or cymbal stand.

My gretsch is the same way.

Exactly. The 12 works just fine! Besides my 1974 Gretsch walnut kit is 22/13/16 so I have that option if I want it!

Is badge orientation that big of an issue? My preference is for a 13" tom in a snare stand anyway. Horses for courses I guess...

I've been using my 5x14 black Noble & Cooley. It sounds really good with this kit.

Now find yourself a PEARL Custom Classic and throw some die-cast hoops on it. Single ply maple w/o reinforcement rings, the solid shell snare GRETSCH should have made

The N&C I'm using has N&C die-cast hoops and is a solid shell snare. Not a fan of Pearl.

I hate snare stands for toms. I like the WAY the drum sounds and interacts with the bass drum mounted on the bass drum. To me there isn't that much of a difference sonically between a 12 and a 13. Especially with Gretsch since the 12 only has 5 lugs.

Like you said different strokes for different folks!
