If you click on a individual stand it will show the sets on the left.

I love the new drum bags. If I did not already own a nice set of bags I would have to have these. Still might get one of those snare bags.

I think, according to prices I heard (+$780), they are made in taiwan :(

Taiwan, today is not a marker of bad quality, as many great products are coming out of Asia including drums.

I think the issue here for the VDF community is the fact that we focus on the great American drums of the past. To associate such a cool classic as the Ludwig Club Date with a Taiwanese, Ludwig sub-contractor is anathema and almost unthinkable in concept. Our minds are filled with images of Bill Ludwig Jr. carefully watching over production along with his father at Damien Ave. in Chicago.

For a new generation however, about to be introduced to a revived "Club Date" accompanied by that great flat-based hardware pack will be acceptable and even welcomed. Maybe by some of us too (in secret of course) :)

The new "Jazzette" kit that Ludwig offers is an Asian import and I didn't hear any hullabaloo out of anyone here over that when that happened......and those are good sounding, quality made drums as well. While I am of the camp that all Ludwigs SHOULD be made in the good ole USA, the reality check is that to make them affordable to the average guy, they have to be made overseas in order to bring the costs down. Our own government helped see to it that anything made here costs 3 times what it should due to all the EPA regulations and such. And lets face it, the stuff coming from over there with the Ludwig name on it isn't that bad. Heck, I've been using Yamaha hardware with my Ludwigs in recent years (they just make the best modern hardware in my book....well up until the new Atlas hardware that just came out....which reminds me, I may be trading all that Yamaha hardware in real soon! LOL!) and what USED TO BE MADE in the Yamaha motorcycle factory in Japan is now made in China or Indonesia and its still great quality gear. So, for me it comes down to if a big name company that cares about its name and quality puts its name on it, it can't be junk. (Unless it's DW.....the hardware made for DW overseas now is about the worst! Man did they let the quality slide on those!)

Ludwig still makes their top of the line stuff, Supras, Vintage Classic and Black Beauty's in Monroe, probably because of the residual demand for "American Made" drums albeit at three times the price!

Tama still makes their very top end drums in Japan. The Starclassic line was recently moved to Chinese manudacture though and the quality is the same as the Japanese made Starclassic.

As you say though Ludwig Dude at three times the price that it could be produced in Asia. I would have a hard time though buying an Asian made Black Beauty even though the quality is the same. Others may not have that issue.

Here's to the new issue "Club Date" Jumping2
