Really pleased to have snared this Radio King and didnt think i would ever get to win one of these beauties and at this price too!!

Waiting for it to arrive and was wondering if anyone could tell me the approximate year and what these 3 holes are for??

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated gang

You talking about the lightly shaded triangle shape on the inside?

Maybe a light mount at one time?

Maybe for a heater? Here's what I am thinking . . .

That oval badge is a bit of a puzzle to me. It's not exactly like any commonly seen SLINGERLAND (all caps) football badge.

Also, the rim stamp looks more 1940s than 1950s. And if it's potentially that old, having a heater in the snare would maybe make more sense.

Just kinda spitballin' here because I love mysteries like this . . .

To me it looks like the 1951 badge.

If the drum had a calf skin head on it the light bulb would be used as a heater, like mentioned above.

Yeah, I vote for it being the 1951 badge. But the lettering is printed and not stamped like in many '51 examples. 1951, 1952 . . . wow, really splittin' hairs here instead of working . . .

And yes, lightbulb as heater, you were right on, sir. Should have acknowledged that, sorry.

Drum heaters have fascinated me ever since I was a little kid and my instructor had a kit with these black and white cloth covered wires running out of every drum. He told me he played on cruise ships (sometimes outside) in the 30s and 40s and needed them.
