Very Nice!! Love 'em.

And I agree...get a good set of cases and play them at gigs.....you WANT to show them off. Let everyone come up to you afterwards and tell you how great they look.....they were meant to be played.

I play my 1959 Gretsch set at every gig where I'm required to bring equipment. No problems.

Good luck...beautiful set!

Thanks to everyone for the nice reply's. I spent a good portion of my weekend playing these drums and I absolutely love them. I have them tuned on the low end and they sound great. I am going to buy some quality hard cases, then contemplate whether I will still tempt to bring them out. As always, a lot of great advice from everyone here.

I have a Mapex Saturn kit that will be my main gigging kit and I will carefully choose what gigs to bring the club dates to.

Thanks everyone...Merry X-Mas/Happy New year

You did well!

What's the back story?

Must have been a careful original owner to keep everything together like that..

I am the third owner of the kit. The guy I bought them from said that he found them in an ad in a local paper. He could not believe the condition of the drums when he found them. The lady he purchased it from said they were bought for her daughter who rarely played them. They sat packed away since 1964 or 1965. Must have been stored in cases because there is absolutely no signs of pitting or rust anywhere. The guy I bought them from said that he is a professional musician, on the road alot, and did not want to gig the drums. He has several kits so this one had to go to a good home....And that it did!!
