Yup, that's the easiest way to tell.
Ludwig stopped doing that around 1968 so it is possible that a few OBP Jazz Fests POSSIBLY were built using the original version of the wrap and lacking that feature. The "Beatle Boom" in drum sales was pretty well over by then so if any of these drums do exist they'd probably be in very miniscule numbers.
I've heard that the scarf joint can be faked as well if the forger wants to go to enough trouble (open up the joint and insert original harvested wrap) but again I think the instances of someone going to that extreme are going to be few and far between.
