I played in a Zep tribute band for 20 years, but there are still songs that I can't get enough of. My favorite Bonham moment is probably some of the insane fills on Achille's Last Stand! What are some of your favorite Bonham moments???
Just had a Bonham moment Last viewed: 10 hours ago
Achille`s is a great tune, Lingontega...I would have to say that In my Time of Dying and Sick Again are a couple of my favourite Bonham moments...Great grooves in them!!
Cheers

I'm more of a knucklehead where this guy is concerned.
Believe it or not, I totally dig Fool In The Rain. There's something so pedestrian about it. I also love that Tears For Fears groove on Everybody Wants To Rule The World ... so I guess I don't have much credibility within this thread. Can't help it. Those two are so slick to my ears.

I think I read somewhere that Porcaro nabbed the groove from "Fool" and used it for Rosanna! I agree with Tears for Fears...that tune is a master piece, also the guitar solo..beautiful!
You are not a Knucklehead. The drums on "Fool in the Rain" are iconic, bad a**.
Somewhat groundbreaking at the time.
I love that groove. I think we all do.
Porcaro was inspired by Fool and Home at Last (steely dan) for the Rosanna groove.
I,......... on the other hand, "am" a Knucklehead..............

Thanks to Mr. Jerry Jenkins
+1 on Fool in the Rain. I love a behind the beat shuffle. That often shows up when I am sound checking drum kits.
Everybody Wants to Rule the World is a monster as well. I love the guitar solo and the guitar licks on the pre-chorus.
Very proud owner of a new Blaemire Snare 6.5 x 14 made by Jerry Jenkins "Drumjinx"
I Love all the tunes mentioned plus would like to add the first tune on the first Led Zeppelin album...Good Times Bad Times. I think that's a rough one for anybody and Bonham showed off his talent right then and there.

Yes, there is a vid on YouTube, "Rosanna shuffle", where Jeff Porcaro explains that he had combined Bonhams Fool In The Rain and The Bernard Purdie (1/2 time shuffle, Jeff calls it, from "Home At Last", (Steely Dan) as mentioned above) shuffle with a Bo-Diddley bass drum to create that beat.
Try playing "Poor Tom" note for note......and I mean keeping the quarter note pulse on the hats while doing the 16th note pattern on the snare and the bass drum all while having that feel.....

+1! It's pretty easy to do any 2 part combination of that beat but to combine all 3 is a challenge. Genius.
