Good quality, not the cheapest.Also, Santana seems to be missing from many of these lists - early, typical stencil-brand in luauan and with banana-rail tom mounts. But nice wraps!I have a pic somewhere....Jon

I am pretty sure MAYA were made by TAMA/HOSHINO for the European market, friend of mine had a couple of sets and they reminded me alot of the Swingstars at the time. I think there were MIJ brands made for the European market....VESPER also leaps to mind!

No, Sir.

TAMA (second name of the company: Gakki) and HOSHINO (second name: Kougyou) were two totally different companies - with NO (!) link in-between them.

The lugs in the pic above clearly indicate that this is a Hoshino drumkit.

The lugs are different from the ones, early Tama's/ Star's used: see the pic below. The difference is the lower part of the lug: at Hoshino the little bump on the top is more flat and goes around the back part as well, while the bump at the Star's/ early Tama's can be seen only on the top of the lug. This is a significant difference.

Nevertheless both are copies of Rogers' 'beavertail' lugs.

hi heres another badge thats not listed. Ibanez and here are the pics/i would like to know where and when they were made or any other info about them.and they were made in japan. thanks

Hey Billyboo, do you think there's any chance you could post a slightly clearer pic of that Ibanez badge? I cant make out the words on the bottom of the badge.

Back in 1963 I purchased my first set which were "Tempo" drums. I still have a badge and, no, they weren't "Tempro" but "Tempo". They served me well back then. I've looked and looked but have never seen this Japanese badge mentioned.
