Is this a Jazz Festival snare? Last viewed: 6 hours ago
1965 Ludwig Clubdate Oyster Blue
1966 Ludwig Clubdate Oyster Black
1969 Ludwig BB Blue Oyster Keystone Clubdate
1971 Ludwig BB Black Oyster
Early 60's Camco Oaklawns Champagne Sparkle
If I had a kit to match I'd be all over oh to find that in wmp
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Funny, I have an excellent '58 WFL in WMP. Great drum.
Thanks everyone for the info, really appreciated. Not exactly sure what Im gonna do with it. I may sell it, but if its worth less than $500, Ill probably keep it. It sure is a purty snare(:
Does anyone know what differentiated the Jazz Fest model from the other upper line snare drums of the period?
You will be surprised at what it is worth if you think it could be only worth $500.

Yikes. Really? Its funny because the other snare I got from my buddy, the 50s WFL BDP is a better sounding drum to me, and I'm sure its not as valuable, at least from my cursory web search. Just goes to show you that worth is measured in many ways...
Well you never know the WFL might be worth the same also.
Might as well show us that one too ,can't take the teasing anymore.

It's not as clean as the '63 Jazz Fest, but it sounds warm and wonderful and has a certain patina "mojo" that I love in old drums. I believe its a late 50s but Im not sure. Id LOVE to find the original snares for it, but I imagine that will be difficult. I did read somewhere that Puresound made vintage reproduction snare wires for it.
If it has the Damen Ave. address at the bottom of the badge, its a '48-'52. If not, it's '55-'57.
