A buffing wheel with ***eler's rouge will make nickel shine like chrome. It's a dirty process but fairly easy once you get the hang of it. A buffing wheel is relatively inexpensive (around $50). There is absolutely no other polishing method that will even come close. Probably the worst part is when the buffing wheel sometimes catches on a corner and rockets the lug across the room. Look out!
