I found this gem and had to have it, its a Corder Snare unusual size, 15 x 9 (I thought it was 8 deep when I bought it, but its 9".) the other thing that got my attention is the hardware is exactly the same as my Fibes kit..also, notice the snares, close observation shows they are wire, however the pic does not show this well, they are coated with some sort of nylon or other material not sure, I tried it live at a gig over the weekend and it projects well, its loud, crisp and has a mean bunch, perfect for my heavy rock stuff, I'm really happy with it, in fact I think when I die I'll have my ashes put inside and ask my wife to set it on a bronze pedestal, (which means it will end up at a garage sale)LOL

Corder drum's are after Fibes when they close the doors.Corder drums started up they are same drums as fibes..Then Corder closed it's doors the Fibes re-started up they still make drums today..Miley
So right Mikey, basically all the machines and materials from Fibes were sold to Corder. I consider it even more rare than the early Fibes as they were only made a few years. Needless to say that there's Guitar Dude Man a collector`s drum- take great care of her as you enjoy that heavy rock.

I just wanted to add what I've head about the fibes/corder history for those who are interested..
Fibes started out in the early 70's and was eventually bought by C.F Martin.. When they closed the doors sometime in the late 70's C.F Martin sold the machinery, tools and other stuff to a guy named Corder.. Corder started a new drum company with the innovative name: "Corder Drums". The corders were keller shells with fibes hardware (some of the drums may be jaspers, no one knows for sure). I've seen alot of corder drums, even more odd stuff like marching drums. I've heard that the corders were quite expensive back in the day aswell.. When Corder went bankrupt he sold all his stuff to a guy named Darwin who started (surprise, surprise) "Darwin drums". Darwin drums was built in the early 90's and he used keller shells with fibes lugs. These are even more rare than the corders, and are sometimes seen on ebay, they don't tend to get any high bids though. Darwin didn't last long (maybe due to the ugliest badge ever known to man) and sometime in the late or mid 90's Fibes reappered in Texas. These are amongst the finest drums ever built imo.. Nice jasper shells and a real nice acrylic line aswell. They even made a fiberglass-shelled snare drum.. I don't know why, or exactly when, but the Fibes drum company doesn't make any more drums. When they ran out of jasper shells rumors said that they were gonna start making their own shells.. But production never took off. The website is still up, but there's no production of drums.. It's a shame too..
Apparently these smaller drum companies have a hard time surviving in the business.. I think it's a shame that no one continued and developed the fiberglas-shells that Fibes used.. I think they sound great.. Too bad they're just so damn heavy, especialy with the chromewrap.. Ah well.. This corder's been out on ebay for a while.. rare size and a nice drum indeed.. I don't consider Corders more valuable than the fibes drums, but some does.. They are very nice drums.
The Corder Drum Company was located In Huntsville Alabama, I visited the factory in 1981 personally, Corder used both jasper and keller shells, Bill Corder told me he personally liked the jasper shells better than the keller shells, sound wise he said they were both great shells but the jasper were his favorite! I was going to buy a kit from them but decided on a gretsch kit Instead.

Tommy's (Robertson) Drum Shop in Austin Texas now owns Fibes. He bought a bunch of Jasper shells when Jasper Wood Products (Jasper Indiana) went out of business. I have a Fibes kit that I think has Jasper shells. When I talked to Tommy he said he wasn't building drums right now (economy) but was going to start providing a dating service (drum dating not an escort service) for Fibes Drums. I don't know if that has happened yet or not. Here is a picture of me playing my Fibes. These drums were built in the early 2000's and I just love them.(can you tell?)
MY 70's Fibes fiberglass, with steel chrome plated wrap sounds like an atom bomb when I'm on stage...I almost don't even need mics Jump For Joy
