When everyone in the thread is convinced except one person, the rest of us should just give up. Sometimes when you reason with someone against strongly held beliefs, their brain just digs in its heels rather than actually considering what's being presented. It's been studied.

In the very first reply I posted ( which I since edited ) I was initially incorrect. The drum kit in the photo provided was not Charlie Watts kit, or in any way related to him. The drummer was making a comment that if a Gretsch RB kit is good for Charlie, it's good for him as well. What I did see is that he says he is the one and only owner and the kit is ( when first posted in 2006 ) over 40 years old. That would place it in the 1960's. I reached out to him to see if he had any way that he can 100% verify that this is a factory fresh natural finish Gretsch RB kit. Perhaps he has a photo of himself with the kit all those years ago, maybe ( doubtful ) but maybe he has his purchase slip with all the finer details of what and when he bought it.

Orangemi - Here we go again spreading bad information about factory (1960 to 1969) original natural maple finished RB Gretsch kits being carelessly passed around the internet that has not been fully documented or verified.
IMHO, a unverified quote with no photographs from Steve Maxwell is not good enough. And Steve being in the vintage drum business knows better not to photograph & document all super rare drum kits (and not in his museum)... and I'm 99.9% sure he keeps records of who buys any super rare kit off him so... if you got him to recently send you a quote have him send you the name of who brought this rare natural maple Gretsch RB kit off him and let's (together) track down this rare wild animal once in for all...

THe best I can do is show his kit, and him talking about it. If the kit had it`s wrap removed, he would certainly mention it. I have no doubt about that.
Remember, removing wrap requires removing the badges.
