once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Get a white pair! The gloves will look great if you're wearing a dark suit! Jumping2

Went through a phase in the early '80's when I'd get blisters BAD while I was playing in a ****ed-off rock band. Wore Footjoy golf gloves for about 6 months. The gloves were worthless to hold onto the lumber until I'd sweated enough to moisten the palm sides. Dawned on me to pre-wet 'em before the gigs and problem solved. Almost felt like I wasn't wearing gloves at all...EXCEPT...they turned to beef jerky when they dried. I also realized that it was partially some bad grip habits that were causing the blisters.
Worked that out and didn't need gloves anymore. Had no problems at all until a european tour in '05. That band's material could best be described as Lynrd Skynrd meets Motorhead. VOLUME SET TO ROMULAN STUN AND EVERYTHING PLAYED AT LIGHTSPEED!!! I started rehearsals with them using 5B's and by the time it was time to hit the airport (about a month later), I had a floor tom case full of 3S's(!) to check in. In the heat of battle, any place where there was friction on my hand would result in a blister about 32 bars into it so I did put duct tape on both sides of the fulcrum and a patch on the heels of my hands. No more troubles.
I left the States with 56 pairs of 3S's and 29 shows in 31 days later, I came back home with exactly ONE pair left. Lost 30 pounds of ugly fat in the process. Met my wife, a chef, afterwards and gained it all back eventually.
Sorry for the diatribe.
Y'all have a good one, 'hear?
That's a great story! You have a writer's flare! Hope your hands are okay now!

Well, back in the early 90's, when I was a carpenter by trade, I had to wear pig skin gloves all day at work so I could do rehearsals and gigs at night. I took some heat from the guys at work, but couldn't bear trying to drum with splinters in my hands. :(I've really only used drummer's gloves when I had injuries(blisters) , or splinters and only temporarily. Like most, it didnt feel right; kind of like wearing a CONDOM.Cool Dude

Hahahahahaha, love that last line.
No gloves. Only for cold weather, golf and baseball. Never really understood the use for drumming, but maybe it looked cool?

I tried the Zildjian gloves, but didn't like the feel. The leather seemed more slippery than skin and I had to grip harder to hold on to the sticks. That caused hand pain, so I stopped using them.
I play bare-handed now, with a very loose grip.
