Great old set! Nice work restoring it. I'll bet it sounds as good as it looks.

Thanks! I love playing this kit. I keep it set up in my living room. All living rooms should have a vintage kit.

Really digging drums008 red sparkle. :)

I have to play in the cellar. Can barely get away with taking drums apart and putting them back together in the living room. The wife tolerates my hour a day of playing...as long as it's in "the cave".

To be sure, the "cave" has a dehumidifier going in summer, and is heated by a woodstove in winter with a humidifier going. It is a pleasant place to work, as I am sure your space is.

I guess we all know it's not where you're hitting them, instead that we are fortunate enough to be hitting them still.

Thanks for all the great comments! These are auburn badge drums. Looks like red glass glitter. Definitely Gretsch shells. The strangest part is the 14x16 floortom. The rail is original. Strange that they would use a rail as late as '73 but from what I can gather these WA kits are always surprising.

1964 Gold Sparkle Round badge 20,12,14
1970 SS Badge, Blue Satin Flame 22,13,16
1962 Tangerine sparkle, Gretsch. 18, 12,14, 5x14
1960's/70's Slingerland 18,12,14 silver sparkle
194? Slingerland "Rolling Bomber" Blue/white Duco 28,13,14,7x14

Very cool.. I love it!!! Great to see what people are up to musically and what vintage they are rolling. :)

Just noticed the video was taken at the Bull Run... Nice!! My band "Rust Never Sleeps" plays there a couple of times a year. I'll keep my eye on the Mark Marquis schedule... look forward to checking it out.

I think that one of my Walberg & Auge sets is from near the end of their drum set manufacturing. Thi set is marked inside the shell as RGB 11-72 with Auburn badges. The color is unique. I call it Ice Blue Glass Glitter. W&A used mostly Jasper shells obtained through trades with Gretsch for W&A hardware. These shells have the Gretsch silver interior paint. My 1965 W&A set has mostly Rogers parts with unpainted Jasper shells from Rogers. They are wrapped in Salmon Satin Flame. My 1963 W&A Gold Glass Glitter set has a 16 deep by 14 diameter floor tom. that size has mucho cajones. The rails were used well in to the 70's by Gretsch. This set has the double tom holder that looks like it's a cross breeding of a rail consolette (the spoons for the toms) and s Ludwig center post with receiver.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
