It really depends on who is looking on any given day. Sometimes, the players are looking and they see a set of drums they know are going to sound nice and they bid.
Or, there can be a guy who has a 12", 14" and 22" silver sparkle drum set with numbers close to those and.....you get the idea.
The way the market is at the moment, top-dollar is only being paid, by collectors, for the absolute premium collectible drum sets. Anything that's even slightly "off" will diminish the potential -to most collectors. There are always exceptions.
