1965 Ludwig Supraphonic with wood veneer Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Does anyone know if this was an after market thing, or if Ludwig actually did a small run of rare supraphonics, wrapped in a wood veneer. I have one, and I want to know more about it.

Definitely an attempt to cover up a peeling chrome finish. Some Supraphonics can get very ugly as they age. (It's best to live w/ aged look, & leave it alone. I really don't mind a seriously degraded finish). You might think about removing the "wood" look.

(my current snare, 1964, 2 Brass hoops)

ah, ok. that's what I thought. I had it on ebay, then someone wrote me and said "hey that's a really rare piece, you should look it up before it sells, so no one takes advantage of you." and now I wish I wold have just left it up on ebay.
