No I can't. I've been looking for a 20's two piece shell ever since I sold mine like an idiot a few years ago. Although this is a one piece shell and a slightly different sound, I fell in love with the tone and the condition/ appearance of the drum. I think I over paid on this one by at least $200 but I've never seen another one like it for sale and didn't want to be kicking myself down the road for not buying it.

In the Rob Cook Ludwig Book the best I could find was "All Metal Snare " but the logo was in a different panel like you mentioned.

Steve - have you checked an empty lug hole to see 'what kind' of metal? Remove a single lug and go in with a pen knife to do a little scrape of the hole. You'll know right away if it's brass, aluminum or (steel?) not sure if they made steel shells back then. Curious it's just listed as 'metal' without telling you which metal.

Seriously cool drum, love the way it looks. The 20's produced some really 'industrial' looking instruments. Let us know if you find out what that shell is made of. Congrats on a great buy!

I am pretty sure I have the same drum, identical! When I posted pics of it when I first got it, I had a few of the serious collectors describe it as an early thirties two piece brass shell. Not an expert but don't think they made aluminum shelled drums in the thirties!! The muffler is the key to the age.

AFAIK...they only made brass shells back them (aside from wood,of course).
