1930's Leedy Snare Drum Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

I recently acquired a Leedy snare drum with the brass medallion. The shell is wood and it has 10 tuning lugs that are tunable from the bottom only. The strainer has 12 snares and appears to be original. The numbers 3506 and 3507 are stamped on the interior of the shell. The top batter appears to be original.

I'd like to define the type of wood this is constructed from, the exact age and an estimated value.

I'm new here. How do I attach pics?

Thanks

Its a Leedy from the Conn era.....1935, Mahogany with maple reinforcement rings. Its a Marching snare, one of the lower student line ones. Still a great sounding drum though. As far as value....hard to put a true number on marching drums as they tend to be all over the place. My guess would be between $225 and $275.
