1929-30 Slingerland Rose Pearl Artist Model

Hello, Everyone

I just completed a rather difficult restoration project on a 1929-30 Slingerland Rose Pearl snare drum. The finish had some issues underneath the tone flange where it had gotten ragged from the tone flange ring. Typical tone flange problem. I used an "experimental" process that I have been trying for a few years. Sometimes it works great and other times, not so great. This time it surpassed my expectations.

I dissolved some actual authentic pieces of Rose Pearl in acetone and then filled in the areas where some wood was peeking out. When it solidified, I wet sanded and polished it. When the tone flange was reinstalled, it looked great. Thought you'd like to see the results.

Of course we already knew this but reading this thread just reaffirmed it once again! Excellent work! Just for sake of curiosity can you post a close up of the spot you filled in?

Oh man, my favourite wrap. I'm quite pleased today as I've just received and installed some new puresound extended snares onto my 40s 3 pointer RK, sounds great. There hard to find. Nothing on your level of expertise though I know. I wonder what this drum of yours sounds like.
