From Ludwig-dude

They do make one for cord only for the earlier three point strainers as well. That was the one I recommended and still recommend to anyone wanting new wires on a Broadway snare. Those ones with the metal strap are horrible.

And thanks to you too for recommending the correct Puresound snares!

Duct tape a cookie sheet to a stool and call it a day !!

Yup those be fine , polishied, shiny look`n drums guys,...but I don`t think they`d last five minutes with me !! That little round damper thingy,..poor thing... can`t seem to hold on tight enough,...he`s bounce`n and roll`n round and round in no time. On a good night,..I`ll have a crater six inches wide and one inch deep in my top head !!...no cigarette is gonna pop that out !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

What is with the Fray these Days?

flower

Royal, that is one drool of a collection you've got going.

Here's a story.

A long time ago I scored a mint COB Dyna ( #3752 )

spoke with Roy Burns, endlessly jacked with it, read

about it, listened to countless recordings.

( I swear that "Fire" by Jimi Hendrix is a COB Dyna )

Went back to my 400, my Gretsch Dixieland...

Finally sold it to friend who completed his Cleveland kit.

Here's the rub...

The day, I mean minutes before he walked in, I got it.

That Drum spoke like the Man Himself.

Take some time for heaven's sake...

No worries. After reading about what you do to cymbals, there's no way in h*** I'd let you anywhere near my "polished, shiny drums" (or anything else of value)! ;)

I swing a hammer and read a tape for a live`n,..don`t baby my tools, Drum heads have a lifespan, with me that`s pretty short, if I spent the time cleanning and wax`n all ten of my drums and hardware,..I`d never get to play them !!

At least twice a year I spend the day cleaning and polish`n mine, every square inch, but I`d rather play them than clean them !! I`ll wipe them down alot, but to clean in bewtween the bolts and shell, or the settle spots on the stands ect. ect. That`s a planned event !!

Precussion : adjective,...( pre;cush;on )...a) Hit the damn thing !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Thanks Roscoe. And I do play them all, in some kind of weird rotation, as the mood strikes... it helps me to focus and keeps things fresh.

However, these are the last two snare drums I would part with. (Perhaps only by coincidence the most recently made drums in my collection, and neither having extended wires)

1) LE SOPRANO; 'New Vintage Maple'; date of manufacture; 1999

2) SONOR PHONIC REISSUE; D516; c. 2005

Very Cool.

The Le Soprano is really something...don't see many of those.

First thought was "Noble & Cooley and Sonor had a Daughter..."

Is the Phonic Rosewood / Birch /Rosewood?

Classy.

There have been a few um, spirited discussions about newer drums

around here.

As a player ( who happens to have a collection ) many offerings

of the last 30 years are prized equally as their older stand-mates.

Sometimes one can be "it" for months, others "which of you lovelies

is going with me today?"

Keep on Pl

All metal parts on the Le Soprano are brass except the hoops which are cast B20 cymbal bronze. The drum is both powerful and sensitive.

Here's a demo by a chopmeister:

The Sonor has Rosewood veneer on both outside and inside with 10 ply of beech in between. It's very sensitive with a huge dynamic range... the tone stays true from PPP to FFF.

That`s cool SkyDog,...I really don`t use other people equiptment unless I know them really well. I let anyone try mine.

royal ace,..you got awsome drums, That Premire on the other page, on the end far right,...how old is that?, that one caught my eyes. Would love to have something like that, it`s in perfect condition and of them all shown, that`s the one I would keep foreva. How thick is that phonic 516 shell ?

Actually all you guys got some fine instruments of art,.... I`m gonna collect drums someday soon, and I`m gonna learn all about it and them from you guys here, ...it`s the place ,..with the right buch !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
