Got a deal today that I wanted to tell everyone about. Haven't seen the drums yet because a buddy picked them up for me, but...

For $150 I am getting:

A cheap red cb percussion kit complete with all hardware and Sabian B8 cymbals/tama stands that I am going to flip to a local student via everyone's favorite "list".

A 16 inch Blue Sparkle floor tom with yet to be determined brand name. Looks to be a MIJ drum though...or it is missing the badge. The guy that checked em out is not super knowledgeable on drums.

A 20 inch bass drum that is all painted up and will be a surprise to see what is under the paint and grime.

Some sweet Paiste Color Sound hats. (just kidding about the "sweet")

And finally....the real reason I got this pile of garbage:

A 1950's Single Ply Maple Slingerland Radio King 5x14 BDP with the all gold Chicago badge. Complete strainer and butt. Original top stamped hoop, and rods. Missing bottom hoop, snares, and rods. Stoked to get on restoring this one. I will post pics when they are in my hands.

A few months back i got the solid, non transparent black vistalite 18" floor tom original heads, excellent condition, with a remo muffler-type thing inside that fitted between the bearing edge and batter head that dampened the floor tom and made it sound more like a kick.

and black vistalite 24" kick, missing spurs, everything else intact but had seen water.

both for $100 on cl at a salvage store

Cleaned it all up vinegar and elbow grease and sold for $300 a few months later

All a-series here:

22" 50's hollow stamp zildjian ride minor keyhole - $50

16" 70's hollow ink logo thin & light crash minor keyhole & a small drilled out crack- $35

14" very light 60's zildijian hi hat pair - $180 (not really a steal but not bad)

and finally a 60's matching splash for $40

Wow!!! Amazing deals. Here goes mine. A couple days ago I got two cymbals for free, from my school. One is an exeptional dark, smokey jazz ride marked ''Raja Turko''. It's hand hammered and measures around 21'' and three quarters. The other one is an unmarked 20'' ride, wich is identical to a your tipical 70's Zildjian A ride, look wise and sound wise. They're great! I'm still looking for info on them. Like 2 years ago I got the hi-hats that went with the school's old setup, for free. They are 14'' Medium Thin 70's A Zildjians. Beauties! I also got a speedking pedal, a 13'' B/O psychedelic red tom, and two broken temple blocks for free. Sadly, they threw the rest away. (that being two Ludwig kits, one psychedelic red, one black oyster pearl, and whatever went with them, hardware snares etc. CryBaby)

Last year I got two Ludwig 1400's from the 70's, and a MIJ cymbal stand for you guessed it, free.

A few weeks ago I got a 30's 25.5'' Ludwig Universal bass drum, for 250$, Olympic spurs for 20$, a Ludwig clip mount or 10$, and a beautiful MIT timbale stand base for free! (seriously, I used MIT and beautiful in the same sentence, but it's a perfect height, flat based timbale stand for free, it was perfect!)

I'm thinking maybe that Turko may be a Tyrko. Tyrko cymbals were made for Sonor. Super Tyrko are pretty cool cymbals. I have one and it sounds great. I never heard of Raja though.

I thought the same thing, but it's clearly stamped ''Raja Turko'', and I did research on those Tyrko cymbals and there's absolutely no resemblance. It sounds really great though, no matter what it is. There's nothing of any Raja Turko on the internet, so i'm out of ideas. When I can a get a camera I'll make a thread with pics. Thanks for the input thought, I apreciate it.

Ask about them in the cymbal section and Drumaholic will know what the story is.

I just got a email from a person asking to buy my Gretsch kit for the amount I was asking. Now they have sent me a email from PayPal saying if I send them $800.00 via Western Union to cover the shipping PayPal will release the funds for the purchase. DAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... I am waiting for the reply from PayPal spoof. They show the transaction as "pending" anyway we'll see if it's real or a BJ.
