Hello,

I just purchased a 5 piece Ludwig kit BDP with blue/olive badges (all four corners round) And the wrap is rivited to the shell. 6 ply maple shells

What year were they made 79,80,81 ?

Thanks,

Jerry. Welcome to the VDF more like 1982-83 if memory serves me before they moved to Monroe NC, the rivet kits are a hard sale due to that fact, but are great sounding drums, does your bass drum have two sets of spurs?

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

The bass drum has two heavy duty spurs and the 12 and 13 toms have the large lugs on them.

I guess there considered the "BIG BEAT" kit?

There's only a little bit of shrinkage on the wraps.

Can the rivets be removed without doing any damage?

Jerry, unfortunately your looking at major work!!! there is a thread where this was done and the kit is now thermo-gloss, the threads here somewhere??

I guess I'm better off leaving them alone since there isn't that much shrinkage.

Thanks again

I'm thinking of putting the silver dot heads back on the kit to make it look and sound original. Are the new sd heads any better then the old ones?

Does anyone out there use them?

Thanks,

Jerry
