Hi!

Recently acquired an 8 lug (Jazz Festival) White Vistilite Ludwig snare. I have only seen Vistilites in a 10 lug. Is this a student snare, or a special type snare that was only acquired with a certain kit? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Appreciate the information! It did come in a kit, but was unsure if it was original or not. Orange UFO case, stand, sticks, protector etc. It is original down to the snare cord, heads.....and not a scratch anywhere on her. Looks like it was never played!

Again thanks for the info!

that would be the exact color UFO case it would come in, a lot of these vistalite 8 lug jazzfest's where up grades to the usual acrolite kits that where available at the time!

In that condition, there is no telling what it would bring. As a student model, they are out there, but very few in really good condition. I picked up a very cool old Star "student" snare last year, no case, but the drum itself is almost perfect. Shows no wear and is all of 40+ years old. Looked like it was played through a few lessons and set aside in a closet for 40 years. Today, my particular snare is a rarity to find whole, let a lone in fantastic condition. It looked horrible in the ebay shots, thankfully. I paid 23.00 including shipping and it had nothing but years of grime and fingerprints on it. Not a speck of rust, no pitting, literally a time capsule drum.

Yours in clean condition, white vista...who knows, could bring a very pretty penny.

Appreciate all the comments and the information! I buy/sell Ludwig snares, and at the present time have way too many! I ran across this garage sale (had 4 Ludwig snare kits) and I got him down to $225 for all 4. I almost fell over with anticipation as to what to expect when I opened that orange case. I was not disappointed to say the least, and had to hold back the smiles, as I offered him a lower amount... (LOL would have paid the $250 he was asking).

With out any photos i would say that Ludwig White vista should sell for 400.00++ a rare drum and to fine it in the condition it's is a very big++...What other snares did you get?/ Mikey

60's Acrolite, a 70's acrolite, and a 60's Pioneer WMP. All in really good shape as the gentleman that I acquired them from, cleaned them up. In years past he would sell them at our local music store for kids in band at school, (thus all of them complete in cases). However, 10 years ago the music store shut it's doors, and these were laying around in his garage.

Going to snap some photo's of the vistilite, and place a few on here for everyone to check out.

Thanks agin everyone!
