Blues, jazz and whatever interests us. 1 to 5 gigs a week. Some times my Camcos, sometimes my Rogers, sometimes my Sonors and always my Luddy brass snares.
I have a 1966/67 Rogers 20 12 14 and have played both classic rock, blues and do wop/oldies on.The 20 inch kick cuts a little better un miced when tuned higher, not be bop high, but two or three turns above JAW.When in a professionally miced situation I would tune it a little lower.60's rogers have a little more volume and punch than some other brands I have heard, and heads like pinstripes seem to decrease volume or cut on the rogers. If volume is a concern I would consider using one ply heads, clear on the reso, and I think most vintage drums like coateds on top,but using clear batters could give you some more cut.But if your band performs at mid volume I think you should be ok.
Fusion rock.
And our bassplayer use my drum with his death-metall band, where hi is sitting beside the drums!!!!
Guys in his metall band like my Camco MUCH more than Pearl Vision they hade before.
My last band played original modern rock material with some prog rock influences. My RBs sounded good, though I'll confess that I added a new 10" Catalina Maple tom and custom 12" Keller snare, both of which cut through the loud mix better than my warm and mellow RBs did.
Nowadays I just play on my own, and I'm appreciating the warmth of my vintage drums much more now that they're not competing with other instruments to be heard. They've got a lovely mellow tone that sounds great on its own, but they have a hard time letting their personality come through over an electric band.
Lots of original modern rock mixed with some Alice in Chains, to Breaking Benjamin.
