help with Slingerlands Last viewed: 7 minutes ago

Hi,

I've recently aquired a couple of shells. The bass shell has 10 lugs, centered.

There is a tom holder off to the left, but no holes in the shell for the spur mounts. It has a Slingerland badge from the 60's, and is stamped Nov 64 M inside. The tom is a 12 X 10 - 6 lug and has no badge, or evidence it ever did, and is stamped the same as the kick shell. There is a natural finish on both, looks to be single ply with reinforced rims. Any info on these would be appreciated. Thanks

what color are the shells duco? also single or double tension on both shells. sounds like your bass drum had clamp on spurs and it's at least a 22" bass drum. post some pic please! Oops forgot to say Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome!

They are a natural now, but very well could have been stripped from a duco finish. I do see some evidence of color on the wood rim. Double tension.

Yeah, 9x13.

So, spurs clamp on? Are these a hard find?

Also, why no badge on the tom? I've scanned the shell and see no evidence of filler.

And, thanks for giving me a quick response!

they weren't putting badges on these tom shells yet! yours are probably early 60's, post a pic of the badge will you?

Slingerland didn't regularly put badges on toms until 1966. Since your drums were made in 1964, it's perfectly normal that your tom doesn't have a badge.

They're three-ply shells (maple-poplar-maple) with maple reinforcing rings.
