Slingerland aluminum set-o-matic question Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Looking for a little help from you Slingerland experts in identifying a double tom mount I recently found. This looks like an early version of a Slingerland set-o-matic tom mount. The pieces that the ball fit into and the plates that mount on the toms are cast aluminum. The receiving hole in the tom plate is the familiar "D" shape that I have seen before on these mounts. The thing that is confusing me is that the post for the arm that goes into the bass drum mount is round and not "D" shaped. I don't have the plate that mounts on the bass drum and there is no Slingerland name anywhere on the arm or tom plates. Is this an original Slingerland part?

BTW - The inside of the tom mount has the part number 150-6 stamped into the metal. Seems like the correct part number for a Slingerland set-o-matic?

can you post a pic,? and it is chrome plated right?also is this aluminum set o matic complete?

That post that goes into the bass drum might be for a Double Floor Tom Tom Stand, or maybe the early model 150 set-o-matic single tom mount (not sure about that, though)

I bought a single tom set-o-matic recently that had the round bass post... it would not fit into a D-shaped bass mount, but it would fit into a Slingerland cymbal stand.

Yep.... the mount I bought had either been switched from a double to a single, or it may have been for the early single set-o-matic like on the BR Outfit in the '69 catalog.... the bass mount has that rectangular shape you know.... that's the one that I am wondering if it has a round hole instead of the D shaped one ??

A picture is worth a thousand words so I will get a picture up ASAP.

The aluminum parts are not plated like the ones pictures but the rest of the parts are chrome. I am thinking these must be first generation set-o-matic parts from 1968. I just wasn't sure about the round post. It is definitely a double tom mount.

Yes, the round one is from a double tom floor stand.

It will fit into the rectangular bass that the old "fail" double tom mount went into, but it wasn't meant for it. You need the "d" tube...

Finally...some pictures. It think Rich K answered the question. It seems like these were designed to go into a stand base and not into a bass drum mount. Has anyone seen this style double tom mount and base complete?
