Changing Wrap On 1980s Vintage Drums? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

I have a 1980s Gretsch. I have bought some newer (non vintage) Gretsch drums. They are a different color. If I change the wrap so all my drums match (and to fix any scratches)... will that make my vintage drums 'not vintage' any more? Does it lower the value of the drums? What are the risks of changing the wrap... if any?

Thanks for any input :D

Your drums are not wrapped, they are stained and lacquered wood.

Ah ok. That's what my dad thought too. So is there any way to re-stain them or something? Without hurting the value?

Well they aren't THAT bad but there is some scratches and damage to the bass since they were passed down to me. And I now have to different color drums. I don't ever plan on selling them but I like knowing that I have a set that's so old (unlike my friends)... I guess I'll pass on it... Thanks guys
