I just bought a Ludwig, 67 Super Classic's Set with an extra 1968, 16x16" floor tom to match. 14x22", 8x12", 16x16", 16x16", and a 5x14" Super Classic 8 lug snare with the P-87 Strainer. I was blown away to find what stellar condition these drums were in, once I removed all the dust, dirt, and grime. The drums all had the original heads on them and were almost sealed to the bearing edges with dirty, almost greasy grunge/grime. I had to pull and twist hard to get some of the heads removed, but found perfect bearing edges and completely in round shells beneath. They will need to be recovered due to age and fading and I would like to know if anyone has a recommendation to recover them in thier original vintage style silver sparkle. Also does anyone know when in 1968 they went from Mahogany Inner Ply to a Maple inner ply? My 1967s , all 4 have Mahogany/Poplar/Maple shells with 1 ply maple re-rings and the 1968, 16" x16" add on floor tom appears to have a maple interior ply instead of Mahogany, yet the pitch is way lower than the 67 floor tom, Should'nt that be the other way around? Ludwig and Slingerlands Rule!!!Thanks For Your Help, Slingalud
