A stupid question?

Move it a little closer to the edge. In order to reattach it, you put it under the edge of one side of the head, stretch it across, then after the head is in place and the hoop is on, you simply start tightening it by pulling it...tighter across the inside of the head. It is a little bit of a pain, but it is worth it to keep pillows and newspaper and blankets were they belong...on the couch.

Man you nailed that again! I just can't count how many pillows and blankets I've yanked out of bass drums. One kit I just got recently, some el cheapo PDP had blankets in EVERY DRUM including the snare!

I can totally relate to your comments!:D

I actually mistook several bass drums for "dryers" when I went to look at a few kits recently in the basements of their current owners.Laughing H

After all, they were filled with what appeared to be someone's dirty laundry and I just assumed that the "rinse cycle" had begun.crying2-07

Not a good look IMHO!

My nephew had his bass drum full of pillows and the batter side had one pillow covering almost the entire surface. He saw the felt on my bass drum and asked me if I liked the sound of my bass drum in that tone of why would you tune it that way. So I told him to step away from the drums, he actually went to another room and I played both drums and asked him what he thought of the sound. He removed all the pillows exept for one that just touched both drum heads. He had only heard his drums from behind the kit.

On a related note/question. I seem to remember the felt strips were thicker back in the day than they are now. Is it just my bad memory? You know, like how tall my dad seemed when I was 5.

ROTFLMAO! Laughing H

Ain't it da trut!

I hate how the poor drums reek after having their dirty ole crud in there for any length of time. I kept looking for the coin slots on the side of some of those things. Nearly laundromats!

I 'felt' I should answer this as well...

My better half (Bowing) tells me felt is available in gobs of thicknesses.
