You sure new hardware will fit. The tube on the standard tom mount looks really thin, but I'm going to try to find one.

It won't. I just did this exact mod. I had to drill the hole larger to take the 70's Luddy pole. Turned out great, by the way. Anyway, you won't be able to do a simple mod.
Please take a bit of advice. Don't drill. Use that center hole for a cool cymbal holder. It would work great for that and you wouldn't have to drill.
If you want to mod the kit (which I don't suggest), you could always add a hotdog and use the center mount for a cymbal. I REALLY don't suggest you do any of this stuff. Anytime you drill, you take away ...
I did mine at the request of another and sold it. It turned out great. My standard kit became a full blown Classic hardware wearing fool.
just P.M. your email i will send the photo's..Also if you need the mount for the tom i have 60s-70's L/S tom mount's complete or if you need just the insert and nut for your mount i have them...Mikey
