When one gets a sweet deal on a sweet kit like this, it feels like you are supposed to have this kit. Destiny.

That's about how I felt - like it had to be mine because that is what was supposed to happen. I really couldn't believe I bought it - I was so excited. My wife can't believe it either....but she wasn't filled with excitement, it was more like disbelief that I bought more stuff. That's when I had to give a long explanation of how cool it is. I could tell that she stopped listening about five words in.

Big S. maybe I'm outta' line here, but I wouldn't worry too much about the wife's disapproval. I've got a '63 SBP Modern Jazz set that's outlasted two wives. Spouses come & go, Slingerlands are forever!

BTW, I'm also looking for CH SP orphans to match a '62 16" bass drum, interested in 10/12/13 & snare 5-6x13 preferred.

BTW #2, P, as deadhead stated, indeed stands for pearl. This was factory shorthand for 'the outside don't hafta' be perfect 'cause its gettin' some kinda' wrap' whether that be pearl, sparkle or satin flame. An M on the inside stands for any kind of laquer finish including clear. My best sources say the M stood for mahogany, but I've also been told it stood for maple. I've seen it on both maple & mahogany. So if you have a wrapped M drum it's not original, conversely a laquered P drum is also not original. There may be a few exceptions to this due to factory mix-ups or a rush order, but very few.

Nice score on them, I'm happy for ya'.

Too many snares is still not enough!....Eddie.

So many drums....only two hands and feet.

bigshawn:

While explaining "how cool it is" to your wife you might have neglected to clarify the fact that you didn't simply "buy more stuff". You actually made an extremely wise "investment" that will pay off in the long run with a great ROI ("return on investment"), should you decide to sell.

Most of us in such an excited state might not have acted in such a cool, calm, rational manner. Actually, I think she should consider taking you out to dinner with all the money you saved due to your keen business sense!Cool Dude

Oops, gotta run. The wife's yelling at me to take out the garbage!

GREAT FIND! Enjoy!
