Apples to Poodles. I'm happy for you. You are still missing the point. I never touched acoustics during this time frame.

For the record, I have integrated electronic kits into my acoustics since the early days of electronic drums. Here's one of my setups from days gone by.

I'm not on you nor do I wish to make this one of those. All I was saying was - for me, using electronics (without any acoustics) for about a year messed with my touch. That's saying something considering I've been at this for about 45 years.

This is my take and my life. It's really not up to you to get into what's odd for me or to question this. You did your thing and that's great. Keep doing your thing and enjoy it.

I bought an Alesis electronic kit so I could play at home quietly with headphones so I didn't drive my wife mad. Now that she's gone, I can have some real toys to play with, too. (I just lucked upon an old Slingerland kit, which is how I stumbled upon these forums. :Excited: )

I also picked up a Roland SPD-S sampling pad recently, which I'll probably use with both the electronic and acoustic kits.

Nothing personal. It's getting strange. Follow me here ... The feel of the electronic kit never felt off. They felt good. They felt natural.

Unfortunately, after using ONLY an electronic kit for about a year (and this is the important part) ... Not having touched an acoustic kit in about a year ... Having only played an electic kit during this time ... Keeping in mind the electric kit felt fine ... When I went back to an acoustic kit ... It Felt Odd under my stick. Mostly my ride feel was off. I had spent about a year playing the rubber ride ... Which felt fine ... and it evidently had an impact on my overall touch. It felt odd going back to a metal ride. My touch was off.

There we go. I think that is clear enough. I'm heading back to bed. Hopefully that got it.

I was not sure where to post this, so here I go. does anyone use electric drums, I found them to be extremely important for learning new material for upcoming gigs, what is also nice is you can practice any time and no one in the house hears you. I bought a Roland TD3 last year and it was fine, now I'm starting to have a few problems, hi hat works half the time, cymbals as well. I bet some poeple here have made their own kits, custom built, any suggestions on if I should get this repaired or go a different route? I think even companies like Roland are going cheap now, to make more, at less cost, with electric cheap is NOT a good thing. would like to hear from electric guru's

You've most likely broken a wire or solder. if it triggers part of the time, it may only be cracked. These can be repaired, but you have to be careful as too much heat will crack the element. The other difficulty is getting to the piezos. Roland is pretty good about burying them under stuff. Post a pic or 2, we'll see if it's worth it or not..
