Has Maxwell stopped dealing in cymbals? Last viewed: 30 seconds ago

Just got my PC back and went on their site. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see them there anymore.

The answer is on the main page. They have decamped to Reverb and the categories on the left are in the process of being de-implemented.

https://www.maxwelldrums.com/

HELLO EVERYONE: Welcome to a new beginning at Steve Maxwell Vintage and Custom Drums website! We are going to utilize REVERB as our primary commerce outlet so please go there for things we have for sale rather than using the categories on the left of this page (since those categories will be going away). The Reverb links are directly below.

ILLINOIS REVERB STORE: HERE. NEW YORK REVERB STORE: HERE

Going forward we will use this main website page for highlighting certain interesting items we have on Reverb; provide updates about cool incoming items; post interesting articles, videos and the like. As we are making these changes you can see them here and follow along with us. And, I would love to hear from you if you have certain topics etc that you would like me to address through this page. Email ideas to me at drummermax@aol.com. I may not be able to respond to every email but I will read them all and see what we can incorporate into this page. I want this to be my way of communicating with our wonderful friends who have been loyal customers and followers for years! So, hang in with us as we evolve to the next level. Thanks! Steve

Not that they have a lot of cymbals listed today. 17 in Chicago

https://reverb.com/shop/stevemaxwelldrums-chicago?product_type=drums-and-percussion&category=cymbals

and 145 in New York

https://reverb.com/shop/stevemaxwelldrums-newyork?product_type=drums-and-percussion&category=cymbals

Maybe they will slowly put more up as they get to it. Or maybe not having many vintage cymbals and no sound files is part of evolving to the next level.

Wow, I'm gone only a few days and then upon returning find that evolution occurred in my absence.

Although not obvious at a first glance, if you click below where it says "audio", that there's actually sound files posted there.

I don't think it's a good move. I used to enjoy dropping down the Used Sets tab to see inventory. Another thing I thought; some many things in the store were on Consignment and how that factors in... But..I sent a note... the old way will be missed...and he's just another Reverb seller to me now.

There is an ugly ass cymbal on the site, it won't let me show it. if that's MINT, and what to expect from that process,...they border on criminal. It's horrid! Does he do sound files ?

Keep in mind Maxwell's online cymbal inventory was not 100% complete. The 22" trans stamp my son picked up at the New York store and the other 22" trans he listened to were both on consignment and were not listed online. That suggests that perhaps only the cymbals the shop actually owned were listed, and it's not clear if that includes all of them. It's also not clear what percentage of his best vintage cymbals are on consignment. What's you experience or understanding about that?

I think they just keep the gems in the store without advertising them because they figure that a walk in customer will probably buy it quickly enough. Then others then go online. But this is just me surmising, and not necessarily anything demonstrably correct.
