That looks like a nice ride.

Is it the vintage Giant Beat rides that bring a lot of money?

What are the differences between the 602 and Giant Beat rides. Let's say 24" for a size.

I am currently switching from Zildjian to Paiste just to experience the difference. I was (still own) using Zildjian Avedis 20" medium ride, 18" thin crash and an 18" medium crash. I bought a set of Paiste 2002's and really like the shorter sustain but I don't like the lack warmth or darkness (not sure if I'm explaining properly) that the Zildjians posses. I am returning the 2002's and am now on the hunt for Giant Beats because I think they will be between the two sounds I am looking for. I found one on CL so far. It is an 18" GB multi functional crash, reissue of course, for $125.00. I also plan on getting the 20" MF crash and the 24" ride. I don't think I could afford vintage ones unless I am mistaken about their value.

Any reply would help.

crispness, brightness = B8 alloy....

So therein lies the difference.

Either alloy can produce a pingy, or washy, or crisp, or trashy cymbal...a cymbal with pronounced stick or a cymbal with pronounced wash...or a crash with quick decay or slow decay.

But it's that darkness/warmth factor that sets them apart.

I believe Giant beats are B20, like 602's are. I do NOT believe 602's were ever made in 24" rides, however...[/COLOR]

Thanks Jaye. Based on the info you provided I think I am on the wright track. The 18" GB didn't go through. I was set to buy it and the guy just simply stopped communicating with me. Oh well the search continues. I posted a thread in the Wanted to Buy section about Giant Beats. If anyone reading this has one for sale please PM me.

GB's are B8

F602 rides went up to 26"

I know someone who owns a 24"
