Hello, trying to verify if my Slingerland Shelbyville, TN snare has the original badge or if it has been fudged. Dated 12/16/1965. It looks original but I haven't really looked at a Slingerland badge from the inside before. I've had it since the early 90's and didn't know what I had until I joined this site. I've posted some pics. It has a silver grommet but that is also what this website shows. Any help would be great. I'm not about to sell this but any estimated values would be great too.

Simple question - are the rings oak or maple?
Oak = TN
Maple = IL

The rings look like oak for sure. Great looking snare!
Yes, everything about the drum appears to be original, but the way the badge is mounted DOES seem weird.
Maybe the Shelbyvillle factory did it like that. I've had scores of Slingerland snares, and don't remember a grommet like that...wish I still had my 6 lug champagne sp, drum from Tenn. so I could check...
Yup, it's bona fide TN.
Cute...but wrong. The question posed brought doubt about the badge. You have to look beyond the badge to check for authenticity. That's why he was directed to the rings. Anyone can slip a badge on a drum. That's why he was curious about the place of manufacture. But, only TN used oak for rings on the Slingys. Get it?
Everybody knows "The Oak Ring Boys" are from Tennessee. :D

oh. I honestly didn't know if you knew about the rings from TN being oak. That's why I was explaining it. No worries. It's all good and it's all educational.
