Remo Classic Fit ... Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I asked the guy in the Remo booth at the Chicago show about the bass drum heads in this series. He said they would be shipping "next week" but I have yet to see them available anywhere. They must be in the pipeline though so hopefully will be available soon.

I can't imagine there would be much (any) difference between the classic fit heads and the regular versions. The films and make-up would be the same. The only real difference being the inner diameter of the hoop.

I haven't tried those heads yet, but did try the Vintage A heads on a couple of Rogers sets. They seemed OK on the 14x18 bass and 14x14 floor tom, but not good at all on an 8x12's. I thought they were supposed to be similar in thickness to what Rogers used in the 60's, but they seem to be thicker and quite close to an Emperor weight. I'm going back to Ambassador.

The vintage Ambassador heads are actually a 2-ply, with one ply being much thinner than the other. I tried one on a 13" snare, and didn't like it.
