HEY SLINGERLAND EXPERTS....I need help on this one! Last viewed: 9 hours ago

I always wanted an early 1970s Buddy Rich model but this one is a little different. The BR was 4" deep, this one is 5" deep. The BR had a Zoomatic throwoff, this one has a TDR. But mine has the single-flanged Stickchopper hoops & 3 air grommets. The hinky part of all this is the 5-ply shell doesn't match the timeline of this particular badge that is attached. The grommet looks original inside/out (I been collecting Slingerland's long enough to know). I've come to the conclusion that this drum is a custom made order from Slingerland or someone did one h*** of a custom job themselves. It would be a challenge for even the master craftsman to line-up the offset lug's to perfection. What do y'all think?[Attachment: 113479]

Looks a nice drum... as you say.. bit of a time warp thing going on..

I have not seen the double washers used for lug mount screws before, and the tension screws do not look original Slingerland.. but that's all..

Cheers

I've seen 2X washers on Slingerland drums quite a few times.

I also have seen plenty of slingerland lugs with doubled washers.

+1 with longjohn. That '70 transition badge does not make sense with the 5-ply shell or the TDR strainer. Both first appeared well after the use of that badge. Not hard to install a factory looking grommet with the correct tools. Also, badge and lugs are not centered on shell. Double lug washers gives pause. Possibly a cut down TDR marcher.

I'm with slingerfan on this one! Just looked through my 1971 catalog and found NO 5-ply shells or TDR strainers. I've also had enough vintage Slingerland kits and separate drums over the decades and I've never had one drum with double lug washers.

Hardware layout is inconsistent with early 70's snares. Primary layout is left to right; tone control, badge, throw off. This drum has the mid 70's and later TDR layout of badge, tone control, throw off. Also, someone has installed the butt and throw off in the wrong positions. They should be swapped side to side.
