Rogers Kit with Mystery Lugs

Loading...

Found this kit on eBay... (Ok, I forgot that the link won't show! It's item 292184800886 ) I'll post some pictures.

I had been stumped by the lugs, but after looking at other kits, they appear to be Kent. Can anyone confirm? A really cool kit and even the seller is not sure of the brand of lugs. I let him know I'd do a bit of research and get back with my findings. Thanks for your help!

Who said that this is a Rogers drum set? Are there Rogers logos on the drums?

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Hi Leedybdp!

Did you check out the auction, description and pictures? The shells, mufflers, floor tom leg brackets and bass drum bow-tie T-rods are Rogers. Rogers was also offered under the Duplex brand...again, using Rogers shells and hardware, but a different style lug.

Here are some more pictures.

Then, even though Duplex drums (by Henry Grossman after he sold Rogers to CBS) used some Rogers components, they were not Rogers drums just like some of the Walberg & Auge drums that incorporated parts from the Rogers factory. Here are two of my Walberg & Auge drum sets that are an amalgamation of components from Rogers, Gretsch, and W&A manufactured parts. I have no doubt that your Duplex drums are of great quality just as my W&A drums are great.

Was there a discussion here about a limited number of Rogers drums leaving the factory with an "interim" lug design that was not adopted for mass production? It's either that or Duplex. The later Duplex drums just had a sticker, I believe.

Not Kent lugs I can tell you that , Pretty cool set !

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

I figured you'd be the one to know for sure! The seller also originally though they were Kent, but soon discovered they were not. Yes, it is a cool set!

Great looking drums! And, yes, the kit in question is certainly not a Rogers kit from the factory, but the seller only mentions that the shells and some other hardware do, in fact, appear to be Rogers. For now, I guess it's a mystery kit!

I have seen the Duplex kits with the "Duplex" stickers on the inside. I believe they used the lugs that Joe Thompson designed for the first-generation R-360 /380 drums.

Attached are pictures of a Duplex snare drum.
