So, this 1966 Ludwig snare is on craigslist...

These are the only two pictures. The seller is not very good at communicating. It's an hour away and $200. What do you think?

The price seems pretty good, assuming it's in good shape and not missing anything, but it's not a 1966....much later than that. It looks like a Coliseum model, since it has 12 lugs, plus the die-cast batter hoop.

Early 80's maybe?

Large Keystone Chicago badge would place that in the 84-85 range. Pretty nice deal if no issues.

+ 1 with 8upwithit.. Mid 80's Chrome over wood coliseum model..I also find it weird that he came up with the 1966 year ID.. Makes no sense.. Whatever the case, that thing is a beast.. I played one for a minute a long time ago and i thought i was gonna go deaf ! It's definitely a good price.. I'd even offer him $180, but would still take it at $200..

If i'm not mistaken, the late Michael Lee who played with the Cult and Robert Plant and Jimmy Page on the Plant-Page tour in the 90's, played one..I saw that gig and thought his snare was a monster..Deep, with tons of crack and the unmistakable Ludwig tone.. Good luck on nabbing it !

I saw both of the Page and Plant tours in the nineties...Great shows!! I believe that Michael used a marching snare...10x14...
