Vistalite Journey Thread - What happened ?

Loading...

A few days ago, a fellow North California drummer posted the photos documenting the evolution of his Vistalite kit.

I am building one myself, so I commented that I liked his ideas and wrote that I thought it was a "Earth shaking, paint peeling kit"

But then suddenly the thread disappeared.

Like it never happened.

I didn't just dream it, did I ?

Anybody else remember seeing it ?

Nope ... you didn't just dream it! The thread was there, but unfortunately got deleted, and not intentionally. Here's the deal:

We use ATTACHMENTS on the VDF for putting up pics/files type content. That thread had all the pics embedded within the text box, and there were a lot of them. When threads are put together that way the pic files are HUGE and end up wrecking the layout and navigation of the thread, but even more so ... if the pics are not in attachment form, we can't SAVE the content for later viewing in the VDF database. I actually convert a LOT of that type content to attachments when I see threads like that, and usually without incident. It takes some time to do, but it's worth it to keep the OP's content/post. On occasion, there can be a glitch on making the transfer, and that is what happened. It has happened in the past!, but not very often. Almost always the OP will re post etc., and at that point I can get in touch and explain what happened. So there you have it. Hope this fills in the blanks for you!

Hope the original poster will repost.

I use TinyPic to avoid those kind of problems with web forums, works well and keeps things smooth.

He said he was a long time lurker and first time poster, and I hope the accidental deletion was not perceived as a deliberate one, could you contact him? I have no idea who he was, and its unfortunate that he did not repost.

I doubt it was perceived as deliberate, and I'll tell you why: I have been here in this capacity .. Moderator/Admin .. for 12 years now, which just blows me away I gotta say!, but anyway ... when this has happened in the past, and there have been a few, the OP has always gotten in touch either privately or on the forum to ask WHY was my post deleted? Or WHERE did my post go? Then, I can give them the skinny on what's what and how it happened, unfortunate as it was. That said, he hasn't checked in as yet, and even worse, as the deletion/glitch was unexpected, plus because he was a NEW member and that was his 1st post, I don't remember his username. Truth be told, I haven't lost a post/pics when doing a correction in quite a while!, thus I didn't take note of his identity. We'll just have to see if he returns and re-posts. Hopefully so!

Hi guys, it was my thread, lol.

I'll repost using the normal VDF upload function - I've been at another forum where they actually encourage using image hosting services instead of the message board upload setup so I'm never sure what the exact protocol is!
