1960s Slingerland Drums

I purchased these used drums in the 80s (maybe late-70s) and from my research here it appears that they're from the 60s. I'm trying to assess the value of these and identify the best way to sell them (Craigslist, eBay, some specialty auction site I don't know about, etc.). At this point I know they'd be better off in someone else's hands.

This is a 5-piece, sparkling pearl set. Here are the serial numbers:

121034 - snare

58925 - floor tom

71204 - bass drum

72367 - small tom

68551 - large tom

The snare is missing a screw (the nut is in the inside of the drum) and is a little pitted, but everything else is in decent shape. I believe everything is original except the leather strap on the foot petal. I remember replacing the original strap several years ago.

I've attached a few photos, too.

Thank you so much for your help with the value and tips for selling them.

I brought them in to see what they'd give me for them, but I didn't fully trust them so I started doing some research and landed here. I read at http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=5986 the following: If the Silver/Black badge #'s on those are lower than 200,000...those are late '60's drums. If they are between about 200,000-350,000...those are early-mid '70's drums. Higher than 400,000...then those are late '70's drums and I would guess the shells ain't the greatest.

The badge you have with those serial numbers is early 70's. '71-'72 plus or minus. The snare would be a bit newer. '73 plus or minus. On quick look the hardware seems consistent with that era. What are your drum sizes? 22,12,13,16? Check eBay "sold listings" for prices of similar kits for an idea on pricing.

Probably a "Modern Solo Outfit 2R" with 22" bass drum option. You could post it for sale here.

Thanks John. I had visited that page. Great info! That's why I was thinking it was a late-60s set, but since there aren't official logs of serials numbers, I get that late-60s/early-70s aren't too far off. :)
