Definitely looks smaller than an 18.

A photo in an ad proves nothing though. He may have built it himself out of a floor tom then brought it to the photo shoot...and Gretsch was like..."okay". How do we know? ;)

They did make a 16" bass drum though very rare they are out there . Optikdrummer has a set that came with both an 18 and a 16 ..

This 16" Gretsch was spotted at the CT drum show last year...and I really can't remember if the Camco next to it was an 18" or also a 16"

Just to be clear, I do know of 16" Gretsch bass drums. My initial response was a somewhat tongue in cheek reference to another "Gretsch rarity" thread from some months ago...perhaps you had to be there....
