I have the Rogers tuned a little low to get what I feel is the best sound out of it. The Fibes on the other hand doesn't seem to work well at lower tuning.

Very nice! I really like them both. Each has a great sound. That's about where I have my COB Dyna tuned. What batter head you using on that?
BTW are you using a snare bridge on the Dyna? What heads on these thanks!

We don't have the Rogers, but my son and I do have a chrome over fiberglass Fibes, a la Buddy Rich, and it's the most sensitive, articulate snare we own. It also plays really loudly. My son doesn't gig with it much though, usually preferring one of his three Lugwigs.
Cheers, Glenn. It's a Remo Coated Ambassador over a Diplomat Hazy snare side head on both snares. The Dynasonic has the snare bridge. The Fibes was just too bright and snappy sounding for me. It's way too sensitive, almost like a parade snare. All you hear is snare wires, but a really cool drum nonetheless.

Very nice! Those COB Dyna's are sweeties. I have a coated Diplomat batter and clear Ambassador snare reso on mine. You need a Dyna tag for yours? I thought you did a very nice job on the A/B comparison between the two different model snare drums! That said, I'd like to add this ...
I actually play/gig BOTH these models on a steady basis. I will say/agree that both demand at the very least, a modicum of technique as neither model will let one "hide" or "fluff" through anything as EVERY STROKE played is heard as clear as day! However!, there are ways to slightly "tame" the Fibes SFT 690 through different head choice! What I have found .. for me, as this is completely personal and subjective .. is to go with a slightly heavier batter on the Fibes. In this case, a REMO Emperor Vintage Coated. That head ever so slightly knocks down that super high end snare sound, yet is thin enough for excellent brush response without issue! I play both models wide open, never any dampening. Resonant side is exactly as you have on yours, a REMO Ambassador weight hazy. I gigged my 1967/68 Fibes SFT 690/COF all last year with this set up in all kinds of venues with nary a problem ... and the beauty is ... the projection of fiberglass!, but again, slightly softened with that head combination. You might try that on your Fibes! Here are a couple pics of the drum I was talking about!

I just bought a brand new Emperor to try on my Dynasonic, since it had some power center dot Evans head on it that just didnt seem right for that drum.. Well the Emperor was wrong too. But I may give it a shot on my Fibes SFT after reading what TommyP said.
