Great video! Bowing Your Dyna sounds as good as any other snare...if not better! Goes to show how a little time getting to know how to tune the Dynasonic will reap the benefits of a great sounding snare drum!

That sounds like a Dyna-Sonic should. Mine sound like that when someone knows what they are doing.
Wayne! Mark! Jack!
THANK YOU all for the very kind words! I really was trying to demonstrate that there is NO ISSUE with this particular snare drum at all .. as we all well know! They aren't prone to being "buzzy" ... nor do they ever come close to choking ... and they always possess a full dynamic range with incredible sensitivity and articulation .. if as Jack mentioned .. time is spent setting the drum up correctly. Cool thing is, one can knock out the 2 and 4 all night on a Dynasonic too, and it delivers! I chose to stay in the jazz realm for the demo as that better shows how dynamic these drums really are. As good as any other snare Mark? Agreed!, and there are so many different makes/models out there that are just as loved and revered as the Rogers Dynasonic. You all might agree that the Dynasonic demands one's attention at the forefront getting it set up right .. ( and it isn't hard! ) .. but once you do ... WOW! Course there's also the intagible that goes along with the drum which just puts a smile on your face whenever you play it!

Great video Tommy! You did the dyna justice.
Great vid Tommy. I have to credit your setup guide too. Excellent step by step with pictorial was huge help getting mine setup. Thanks again!
Where is this set up video?
Jeff!
It's not a video, but rather a tutorial I wrote some years back on HOW to set up a Rogers Dynasonic, either COB or wood, and get it in a "general" operating area which allows the drummer to then fine tune from there to personal taste! The instructions just get the drum where it was designed to be, then one can take it from there ... or leave it right where it is! Here's the link: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/rogers_dynasonic_set_up2.html

Thank you Tommy! I have yet to get mine sounding good, maybe this will do it.

If you're still not satisfied, you can send the drum to me .. seriously! .. and I'll go through it and set it up for you. I have actually done this more than a few times for guys that just couldn't seem to dial it in. It "can be" a bit finicky to do .. but .. this should get you at a nice starting point with just personal tune/tension to taste remaining!

Powertone! ( hey Jeff! ) ... Glenn!
THANK YOU both for the nice words! I remember back when I wrote that set up sheet that we were getting LOTS of inquiries about this on the VDF. So, rather than have guys abandon their Dynasonic's out of frustration, I wrote that up. It was indeed commonplace for guys to remove the entire frame and just play the drum with a standard snare set up, like a Powertone for example. But then, it was no longer a Dynasonic, and they lost out on just how nice these drums can be! THANKS again!!!
